PICTURE DAY IS WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 19th! Remember to bring your Smile!
What's happening this week: Essential Question: How are families around the world the same and different? Comprehension Skill: Character, Setting, and Events Comprehension Strategy: Visualize Spelling Words: Short e, o, u sounds. We are getting the hang of things in our second grade class. :) Our center rotations are off to a great start and we are spending time together in small groups reading daily. We are working on vocabulary, reading fluency, and comprehension skills. In writing we are starting, "The Best Part of Me" Writing Piece. We will be going through the entire writing process and learning what good Writers do. In Math we are working on place value and how to understand the value of a digit. We are understanding that numbers can be written many different ways and we are exploring those ways. (picture form, expanded form, standard form, and tens & ones form) We are doing math centers with place value games, and continuing our studies in ST math. We are also learning about the power of water on our earth in science! Stay tuned for all our fun learning on Seesaw!
